I am very pleased to be able to report that Shreelata and Kezia Cabral are now confirmed to speak at our conference this year. On April 12, 2010 we received the good news, they were granted their travelling Visas and are able to visit Canada! What a great thing that God has done for us!! We are so excited to see what God has in store for us and how He will use Shreelata and Kezia to bring a word of encouragement born out of suffering. If you want to hear about the faithfulness of God you cannot miss this year's conference.
In addition to Kezia and Shreelata, I am so blessed to have a good friend and brother in the Lord, Jaime Casto, Pastor and Founder of Abilities Church Toronto (http://www.abilitieschurch.org/), come to speak to us. Pastor Jaime will speak about the heart of Jesus when it comes to including our disabled brothers and sisters in our worship services.
We are very excited to announce that Dr. Anthony Hutchinson will also be speaking at this year's conference about the subject of inclusion. To see what an amazing thing that God has done by bringing DocH, check out his bio at (http://www.dranthonyhutchinson.com/pb/wp_b94abeea/wp_b94abeea.html).
Lead Pastor of King's View Community Church, Jeffery Johnston, will bring a word of encouragement. The King's View Worship Team will lead us in a time of worship.
We are also being purposeful about leaving a time for food and fellowship this year. Providing survivors and their families with some networking time is a real important element in these gatherings so that people can continue to keep in touch and pray and encourage one another throughout the year.
To register call the church office at 905-573-3522 or join the Facebook Group, "Christians with Brain Injuries" and register there or register on this web site in the conference registration section.
Well, we did it again. A gathering of people came together in Mississauga on June 6, 2009. God was invited and He didn't disappoint! We had a wonderful time worshipping together, sharing stories about overcoming adversity, celebrating the faithfulness of God and expanding territory for Christ.
Susan Stewart spoke about her life before her injury and then talked about how God has worked in her life since her injury. Her story was an inspiration to all who heard it.
Reg Benoit was a blessing as he sang songs of hope and made us all laugh with his wonderful sense of humour despite daily pain and serious memory impairments that have plagued him since his injury.
Jason Ball was amazing! He spoke about his injury and how God has healed him since the injury. What an incredible story indeed!!
We will continue to make plans for next year starting this fall. What we are learning about these gatherings is that God is very pleased with them and loves to bless us when we get together.
The first ever Recovery to Discovery conference was a great success! Held at Crossroads Centre in Burlington and attended by professionals, caregivers and survivors this was truly a community gathering. We were so blessed and encouraged to hear from Patti Foster talk about how to "MAKE A DIFFERENCE NOW!"
Just as a warm up to reports and resources being added soon, look below for a video clip of Miles doing his rap that Saturday afternoon.
Here's a video of the famous rap by Miles from the 2008 conference. Enjoy!
